We did it! It wasn't hard at all, within an hour we had two trellises up with our
squash, zucchini, acorn squash, squash, watermelon and cantaloupe all snug and tucked in.
Watered them with some super Fish Fertilizer, they should be some happy plants.
We are trying the cardboard method of Back to Eden Gardening. We cut down the grass and simply laid down cardboard. Added a layer of Fertilizer, about 4 or more inches of organic compost, and topped it with about 2 or more inches of hay. Then I opened up a space and dug down to the cardboard, cut an X into it placed my planted in the hole and tucked it in with the surrounding dirt.
We're praying for a great harvest! Time will tell if we will use this method next year in the space were my raised beds are. I'll move my beds to the other side of the house and the entire garden area will be covered with cardboard, compost, and hay come November.
